Getting There
It takes around 7 hours to drive from Sydney to Coffs Harbour without stops; from Brisbane it takes around 5 hours. The Pacific Highway in this region is notoriously dangerous; many serious accidents have involved drivers enduring long hours behind the wheel. Ongoing road-widening projects should improve things. Qantas (tel. 13 13 13 in Australia) flies nonstop to Coffs Harbour from Sydney. Several coach companies, including Greyhound Australia (tel. 13 14 99 in Australia, or 07/4690 9950; www.greyhound.com.au), make the trip from Sydney in about 9 hours. A Countrylink (tel. 13 22 32 in Australia) train from Sydney costs A$79 (US$71/£35).
Visitor Information
The Coffs Harbour Visitors Information Centre is just off the Pacific Highway, at the corner of Grafton and McLean streets (tel. 1300/369 070 in Australia, or 02/6652 1522; www.coffscoast.com.au). It's open daily from 9am to 5pm. A good general website is www.holidaycoast.com.au.
Getting Around
