A port established by the Greeks in 6000 B.C. and later owned by the kings of Majorca, Collioure is best known as the home of a colony of artists known as the Fauvists, who included Derain, Dufy, Picasso, and Matisse. Attracting art lovers from all over the world, it has some of the charm of a pre-Bardot St-Tropez.
