Käthe Kollwitz Museum Köln

This is the second museum in Germany devoted to the works of this major German figure (1867-1945), the country's most celebrated female artist of the 20th century. This museum has more of her works than its sibling museum in Berlin. Capturing human emotions, both tender and arresting, the Berlin-born artist focuses on such subjects as death, hunger, war, love, grief, and even happiness. In addition to the works of Kollwitz, presented in drawings, sketches, and sculpture, the museum has special exhibitions, such as those devoted to Picasso, William Hogarth, or even contemporary artists.
