The Granite State Candy Shoppe (tel. 888/225-2531 or 603/225-2591; www.nhchocolates.com), south of the State House at 13 Warren St., is a third-generation family business that's been operating here in town for more than 80 years. Greek founder Peter Bart immigrated to Massachusetts, learned candy-making, and moved to Concord to open this shop in 1927. His sons and grandsons have continued the tradition ever since. Hand-dipped milk and dark chocolates are the house specialties, but you can also find a wide selection of plain and fancy truffles, hard candies, marzipan, and just about anything else your sweet tooth could want. Check your dental insurance before arrival.
