The Place ReviewOutdoors, under a striped tent if the weather is threatening, The Place cooks its food over open wood fires. You sit on tree stumps and can buy a T-shirt that confirms that you "Put Your Rump On A Stump." In essence, what's served is a clambake, so you are morally obligated to begin with a raft of that bivalve. They are roasted over smoky coals, popped open, dabbed with hot sauce, and run back over the fire as a finish. Corn cooked in the husk and dipped in margarine is another must. You can get bluefish or chicken with that, but why would you? Go for the lobster. Guests are invited to bring along beer, wine, salad, chips, or whatever to fill out a meal. There are several desserts, including slices of pecan pies and hot fudge sundaes, but the carrot cake is the winner. You will leave grinning. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
