This three-level hideaway, in the mews of an old apartment building, is one of the coolest cocktail lounges in town. The building has had many past lives, including as a pharmacist's workshop, a history that informs the decor, especially on the top-floor whiskey lounge that's only open at peak weekend hours. There, you can find rare quaffs from around the world, but on the other floors, dark but cheerful, the speciality is well-mixed drinks, particularly ones with a dash of licorice flavors, which the Danes loves. There are more traditional drinks, too, for those with different tastes. Check out the haunted 19th-century portraits on the walls and wonder who those people were—they're antiques and no one is quite sure who most of them depict. In good weather, there's an outdoor patio.
