Frommer's Review
This is the best all-bungalow resort on the Coral Coast. During their early years it was famous as a young persons' hangout, with a large dormitory and mile-a-minute entertainment. The dormitory belongs to history now, but lively evening entertainment still features a Fijian meke feast once a week, Beqa island fire walking, and Club Med-style cabaret shows. The resort occupies a narrow strip of land between the Queen's Road and the lagoon that's long enough so that families, singles, and couples don't get in each other's way or disturb each other's sleep (or lack thereof). For optimum peace and quiet, choose a duplex "deluxe villa" on the far western end of the property. They have dual indoor showers as well as outdoor showers. The 16 original, A-frame bungalows here are much closer to the action. Other units are in modern, duplex bungalows with tropical furnishings and shower-only bathrooms. A few larger family units here can sleep up to five persons. The main building opens to a beachside pool with a waterfall and a water slide. As has happened at the Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji , most of the beach is obscured at high tide, but you can follow a trail out on the reef and observe a coral restoration project being undertaken in cooperation with local villagers. Ashore, you can keep busy with tennis, horseback tours, trips to the mountains and waterfalls, minigolf, and pumping iron in an exercise bure, where you can catch the news on TV.
Facilities: 2 restaurants; 2 bars; miniature golf; outdoor pool; tennis court; exercise room; watersports equipment rentals; children's programs; game room; concierge; activities desk; car-rental desk; salon; massage; babysitting; laundry service; coin-op washers and dryers
