Frommer's Review
Sitting on a palm-fringed beach with a bit more sand than you'll find at the Outrigger or the Hideaway, this complex reflects distinctive architecture from its origins as the Hyatt Regency Fiji. A sweeping roof supported by wood beams covers a wide reception and lobby area bordered on either end by huge carved murals depicting Capt. James Cook's discovery of Fiji in 1779. A curving staircase descends from the center of the lobby into a large square well, giving access to the dining and recreation areas on the lagoon level. The medium-size guest rooms are in two- and three-story blocks that flank the central building. Each room has its own balcony or patio with a view of the sea or the tropical gardens surrounding the complex. The most expensive units are suites, which directly face the lagoon from the ends of the buildings. The sand-floored Wicked Walu, under a thatch roof on a tiny island offshore, is the choice dining spot here. A free shuttle runs between The Warwick and its more family-oriented sister, The Naviti Resort. Construction was due to begin in 2006 on a complex of 40 deluxe bungalows, which is to have its own swimming pool.
