Frommer's Review
Andrew Waldken-Brown, a European who was born in Fiji, and his Australian wife, Jessica, have turned his family's old vacation cottage -- beside one of the finest beaches on the Coral Coast -- into this excellent backpacker resort. Built in the old South Seas style of tin roof, clapboard sides, and big windows with push-out, prop-up shutters, the charming cottage serves as lounge, bar, and dining room providing inexpensive meals. Andrew and Jessica gave their airy, two-story dorms the ultimate in luxuries -- well, at least as far as backpackers are concerned. Each dorm is screened and has its own ceiling fan, and all beds have reading lights. Upstairs is aimed at couples, with partitions separating roomettes, but the walls don't reach the ceiling; the accommodations also have ceiling fans and mosquito-netted double beds. Better for couples are garden rooms in a separate building; each has a double bed and two settees for lounging. All guests, including campers who can pitch their tents on the spacious lawn, share clean toilets and a modern communal kitchen.
