Frommer's Review
Only the foot-shaped swimming pool reminds me of when this low-key resort was known as Man Friday. It's still one of the Coral Coast's oldest hotels, but much has been done in recent years to improve it, including installation of new bathrooms with "his-and-her" shower heads and sinks in all units. It's a rough but scenic 4km (2 1/2-mile) ride along a dirt road and a steep downhill descent to reach the resort. In fact, you'll have to climb uphill to guest units nos. 12 through 29. They have stunning views, but I prefer those down near the beach, especially the thatch-encased "seaside luxury" bungalows. They're not that luxurious by modern standards, but they are much more charming than the other, A-frame units here -- and they may be air-conditioned and have outdoor showers by the time you arrive. In the meantime, all units have fans. The skimpy beach in front of the resort is augmented by sand held in place by a rock wall; it's much better in front of Namaqumaqua, the adjoining Fijian village. Crusoe's has what appears to be a grass tennis court, but don't bother bringing your racket.
