In addition to the restaurants reviewed, the most elegant parrilla in town is Alcorta, Figueroa Alcorta 330 (tel. 351/424-7452; www.alcortacarnes.com.ar), serving the best cuts of beef in the city, with entrees from $10 (£6.80). The best Italian restaurant is La Mamma, at Santa Rosa and La Cañada (tel. 351/421-2212), with homemade pastas, veal scaloppini, and an incredible lasagna (main dishes cost on average $17/£12). La Nieta e' la Pancha, on Belgrano 783 (tel. 351/468-1920), offers typical food such as locro, humitas, and homemade pastas and empanadas, and here you can also try the ubiquitous mate tea so loved by locals. Meals cost around $10 (£6.80).
