This place is like a ray of warm Mediterranean sunshine in downtown Cork City. Traditional flavors of southern Europe and North Africa meet Irish influences, and the result is nothing short of delightful. It’s open all day, so you can pop in for a breakfast of Syrian manoushi bread with poached egg and caramelized onion, or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The lunch menu is long and varied, but it’s really at dinnertime when the excellent cooking comes into its own. Plates could include scallops with samphire and sumac, or sfeehas—small Lebanese pies made with spiced lamb and fennel. Nearly everything on the wine list is available by the glass, and the small cocktail menu is intriguing—try the delicious house Bellini.
