La Boheme ReviewThis is a wonderful find, hidden away in an arched cellar underneath the headquarters of Waterford Chamber of Commerce. It exudes a kind of effortless class, without delivering too big a hit to the wallet, and it uses local ingredients to create classic French flavors. The menu changes constantly, but typical dishes include organic Clare Island roast wild pheasant with spinach stuffing, or chargrilled filet of Aged Irish Hereford beef with béarnaise sauce. Service is slick, professional, and attentive; but this is not the kind of top-tier restaurant where you have to sit up straight, or feel shy about asking for help with the rather dizzying wine list. A worthwhile splurge. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
