Hostal Cofradía del Monje

Located across from the Plaza San Francisco, and right next to the San Francisco church, this cozy hostel inhabits yet another meticulously restored old home. The rooms are on the second floor, and the atrium-covered central courtyard houses the hostal's popular restaurant. All rooms have polished wood floors with Persian rugs, flatscreen TVs, and small bathrooms. They also feature hand-painted wall murals, high ceilings, and ornate steel light fixtures. Nos. 1 through 5 have views of the cathedral and the lively market on Plaza San Francisco. Your best bet is to ask for room no. 2, a corner unit that has French doors opening onto two little balconies -- one on each side of the corner.
