Take a moment to marvel at the ornate and beautifully restored facade before entering this wonderful budget option. Once you're inside, a high atrium roof lets plenty of light in to the central lobby area. The rooms are simple and plain, with wood floors and minimal decorations. Most have anywhere from two to four twin beds, so be sure to specify that you want a matrimonial, or queen, if you're traveling as a couple. Room nos. 11 and 12 have small balconies overlooking the street. The suite here is really better described as an apartment with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and living and dining rooms. This suite also has a private rooftop terrace with a view of the San Alfonso Church steeple. There's a small restaurant tucked into the back of the ground floor serving inexpensive Ecuadorian cuisine, as well as a full breakfast for $1.50 (85p).
