Frommer's Review
It takes a little effort to uncover this hostal, named for the profession responsible for discovering so much of Peru's pre-Columbian past and owned by a Frenchman who's a longtime resident of Cusco. Located down a stone alleyway and tucked behind the unprepossessing facade of a late-19th-century house just 5 minutes from the Plaza de Armas, it certainly doesn't jump out at you. Once inside, though, you'll find a lovely sunny garden -- with ample space for kids to play -- and rooms that run along a corridor overlooking the patio. Rooms are simply furnished but comfortable and cozy. The large Inka suite has a garden as well as panoramic city views for not much more money. The French restaurant, La Vie en Rose, is fairly upscale and surprisingly good for an inn of this size. Also on-site is a large, efficient travel agency.
