Planning a Trip

Getting There -- Dartmouth is not easily reached by public transport. Trains run to Totnes and Paignton. Buses run hourly between Totnes and Dartmouth. Call tel. 0870/608-2608, or visit www.stagecoachbus.com for schedules.

If you're driving from Exeter, take the A38 southwest, cutting southeast to Totnes on the A381; then follow the A381 to the junction with the B3207.

Riverboats make the 16km (10-mile) run from Totnes to Dartmouth, but these trips depend on the tide and operate only from Easter to the end of October.

Visitor Information -- The Tourist Information Centre is at the Engine House, Mayors Avenue (tel. 01803/834224; www.discoverdartmouth.com), and is open April to October Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 5:30pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm; off-season hours are Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 4:30pm.

Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.
