Bistro Gentiana

Housed in a gold-colored building opposite the Hotel Schweizerhof in the center of town, this restaurant is known for its 10 different types of fondue dishes, as well as for its unusual list of dishes prepared with snails. Unpretentious and bustling, and within a cozy alpine environment, the establishment serves ample portions of air-dried beef and ham, as well as inexpensive daily specials. Its selection of desserts includes local pears in cinnamon syrup, honey-flavored ice cream, and chocolate mousse. Wines are sold by the carafe. Don't overlook the somewhat more formal pair of upstairs dining rooms, whose focal point is a blue-toned painting by the German artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, a former resident of Davos.
