Frommer's Review

Situated adjacent to a park in Golf Links, the most expensive residential area in Delhi, this family-run hotel offers reasonable comfort, a peaceful retreat from the city, and well-meaning service. The owners also spend good money to maintain standards and upgrade facilities regularly; the most recent face-lift was in 2007, so if you prefer a more intimate lodging experience and can't quite afford to stay at Amarya (or, more likely, can't get a reservation there), Ahuja is certainly worth considering, not least because of the relative comfort of the rooms (particularly when compared with similarly priced options like La Sagrita Tourist Home and the awful 27 Jor Bagh). Guest rooms are done out in pale tones with earthy accents; floors are tiled with rugs, and there are armchairs and a small desk; try to reserve no. 12, a slightly larger-than-average corner unit, or fork out on no. 13, recently converted to a suite. You may find mattresses a trifle soft, but cool white linens make up for this. There is only one room with a tub (instead of the standard drench shower). Guests tend to make a beeline for the lovely terrace overlooking the park and the neat little lawn out front. There's a quaint country-style dining room for homey Indian meals. The Ahuja family also offers serviced apartments and has an alternative guesthouse in Defence Colony.

Facilities:
Dining room; travel and transport assistance; transfers; limited room service; laundry; doctor-on-call; Internet

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
