Although it really can't compare with the more affordable Master Paying Residential Guest Accommodation (reviewed below) in terms of style (and is also a lot farther from Connaught Place), this is an excellent homestay-style option if you prefer to have your own bathroom (shower only), and don't mind being a little way out of the center. Besides a comfortable, homey bedroom (with fresh flowers, back-supporting foam mattresses, framed artworks, and plenty of cupboard space) and the option of regular home-cooked meals (served in a tiny family dining room, microwave lurking in the background), you'll have access to the advice, assistance, and lively repartee of your enthusiastic host, Sheikh Pervez Hameed, who can hook you up with quality guides, the best taxis in town, and all sorts of tours and experiences; his wife, Lubna, will even take you shopping. Your hosts have Bollywood DVDs for you to watch, and they'll probably join you in the living room as you experience the Surround Sound through their supersize speakers. It's essential to know that you're not just coming here to stay, but to receive fairly hands-on attention from a vibrant family as eager to learn from you as you are from them. Bear in mind that you'll be in a fairly busy neighborhood: The sounds of the traffic are never far away (no fear of oversleeping here), and a nearby commercial center has dozens of restaurants and bars. But you get to live like a pampered local: You could have the family barber summoned to give you a trim or escape to a plant-dappled terrace and meditate on suburbia. At press time, Pervez was planning to convert a rooftop space into a guest room with a private "garden" sit-out area; ask for this if you crave a little extra privacy.
