This 4,000-acre park is a wonderland of spectacular red-rock fins jutting from the forested grassland at a noticeable angle. Roxborough is a great destination for hikers, with a challenging 6.4-mile hike up Carpenter Peak in park boundaries, as well as a plethora of trails that lead out of the park, including the popular 13-mile round-trip hike up Waterton Canyon. A daily vehicle pass costs $7; there is no camping, and dogs, bikes, and horses are not permitted. (Bikes are permitted in Waterton Canyon.) To get to Roxborough, take Wadsworth to Waterton Road (past Chatfield), and drive east to Rampart Range Road, then head south 2 miles to Roxborough Park Rd. and turn right into the park.
