This is the poshest luxury boutique on island, housed in a villa and former rum distillery dating from the 1600s. During the shooting of Pirates of the Caribbean -- Dead Man's Chest, actors Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom slept here. The hotel lies on the east coast of Dominica near the Atlantic and is surrounded by two acres of landscaped gardens between two freshwater rivers. Rooms are regally decorated, the style ranging from Creole plantation to African. The Rum Mango room is independent from the main building, with its own garden and terrace. All the accommodations are spacious and beautifully furnished, and you sleep under mosquito nets on wooden floors. Many guests request the tower of Josephine, with its antique four-poster (said to have once been occupied by Josephine before she married Napoleon). Fine food and wine are served at the on-site restaurant, using fresh ingredients, often from the kitchen's own garden. Tables overlook the Pagua River.
