Quarters

Comprising four Victorian houses set on fashionable Florida Road, Quarters is a corporate, boutique-style guest lodge whose intersection location is at once convenient and noisy. All rooms are relatively spacious, have queen-size sleigh beds, and are double-glazed to eliminate the constant neighborhood noise, though this is scant protection from the sound of the person above flushing the toilet -- ask for a room on one of the top floors. Bathrooms are big and well designed; specify shower or bathtub. The Brasserie has a small but highly rated menu, attracting locals as well as in-house patrons; alternatively, some 20 restaurants lie within a 5km (3-mile) radius, many within walking distance. The new addition, Quarters on Avondale, farther up Argyle Road, is a more luxurious affair, with executive suites, yet rooms still have the same bland decor and ever-present road noise.
