Frommer's Review
Set on the ground floor of Durham's most visible skyscraper (the Wachovia Building), this is the most sophisticated, flashy, and gastronomically eclectic restaurant in town. The airy, high-ceilinged, and stylish room has already welcomed the likes of former Senator John Edwards, Elton John, Dan Quayle (remember him?), and King Constantine of Greece. Lots of "suits and ties" dine here at lunchtime; a somewhat more relaxed and less work-driven crowd shows up at dinner. Menu items feature a sophisticated array of pastas, including a fine version of linguine with clams. Roasted pork loin comes with a fennel rosemary crust; roast chicken is accompanied by a rice pilaf of currant, grape leaves, pine nuts, and cinnamon served with a roasted garlic rosemary jus; and a local version of bouillabaisse comes replete with fresh fish, shrimp, and mussels and a saffron-orange/tomato-fennel-flavored broth, for anyone feeling nostalgic for southern France.
