A New Town favorite, this Parisian-style brasserie with the classic black-and-white-checkered floor is a deliberately rapid-paced place at lunchtime and more sedate at dinner. An upbeat and usually enthusiastic staff serves cuisine that might include baked oysters with smoked salmon, venison with juniper berries and wild mushrooms, local pheasant in wine and garlic sauce, or baked cod with asparagus. Pretheater prices from 5:30 to 6:45pm are a bargain.
