Frommer's Review
The buildings that house this inn were first erected in the 1780s, transformed with alterations of Corinthian and neo-Renaissance style during the next 150 years or so before becoming the posh George Hotel in 1950. In the summer of 2006, a whopping £12-million ($22-million) renovation was scheduled to be completed. While the public rooms will no doubt retain their elegance and old-fashioned comfort, the guest rooms were to be completely updated and made modern in the course of the refurbishment. A stylish new restaurant and bar, Tempus, replaces the previous catering options.
