Frommer's Review
Dubbed one of the most discrete five-star hotels in the city, this lovely hotel links a set of Georgian terraced houses in the Northern New Town, just down the hill from the Queen Street Gardens. Some of the aura of a private home remains. Accommodations are midsize to spacious, each unit individually and rather elegantly decorated, with some of the best bathrooms in town, featuring power and double showers and, in some, a Jacuzzi. The decor is traditional and modern, using both antiques and reproductions. Service is a hallmark of the Howard, with a dedicated butler that can tend to your individual needs, even unpacking your luggage, should you so desire. To sum up: an oasis of Georgian charm and class. And if you're on a budget, weekend breaks can bring rates to £99 ($183) per person.
