Frommer's Review
This baronial Victorian pile (once an exclusive department store) rises from the east side of North Bridge, between the Royal Mile and the cavernous gap that separates Old Town from New Town. Some recent investment in the Carlton removed bedrooms to create more space in units with bathrooms that have a tub and shower. Some complain of the noise from the busy street in front of the hotel: Light sleepers should request rooms at the rear.
