This hotel offers better value than many of its competitors in this congested area on the Royal Mile where the High Street intersects South Bridge, across from the Tron Kirk. From the 1920s to the 1990s, it was a branch of the Bank of Scotland, hence the name. You enter the hotel via the popular Logie Baird Bar. Once inside you'll discover high ceilings, well-chosen furnishings, and king-size beds; all but one guest room have a shower and a tub in the bathrooms. The units are dedicated to the works of a famous Scots, including rooms dedicated to Robert Burns, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Alexander Graham Bell.
