The Edmonton Art Gallery (EAG) occupies a stately building in the heart of downtown, east of City Hall. The interior, however, is state-of-the-art modern, subtly lit, and expertly arranged. Exhibits consist of contemporary Canadian and international art, and touring works from every corner of the globe. The Gallery shop sells an array of items, from books to locally made crafts. The EAG recently unveiled plans for a total redesign of the gallery -- and announced a new name, Art Gallery of Alberta. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2007.
