Jack's Grill ReviewNo serious discussion of the Edmonton dining scene could possibly be complete without mention of Jack's Grill. Tucked away in a quiet residential area in the city's south end, near the Southgate Mall, Jack's is a casually elegant restaurant that draw diners from all over the city -- and the country. Its food relies on simple preparation, inventive flavor combinations, and tons of fresh, local ingredients: Try the smoked lamb carpaccio crusted in rosemary with arugula and apple salad and dijon aioli, say, or chili-rubbed grilled beef rib-eye, aged 28 days, with smoked tomato and goat cheese tortellini and creamed spinach. Think of it, perhaps, as haute comfort food -- some of the best you'll find anywhere. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
