Active Pursuits

Until fairly recently, the tourism industry in Egypt has been heavily focused on shuttling people into and out of Luxor. Diving is about the only well-established activity for tourists in Egypt other than lying on a beach or digging holes in the West Bank of the Nile Valley. This, however, is changing. Desert trekking, be it with jeeps or camels, is becoming popular in the Western Desert and slowly becoming possible on the Sinai Peninsula. Wind sports, however, are likely to be the next big thing on the Sinai, where clement weather, steady winds, and great preexisting accommodations and restaurants are already in place.
