Frommer's Review
Located in the superluxurious Vitalis Spa wing of the Herod's Sheraton Complex, this restaurant serves fish and vegetarian dishes (no meat), and is one of the two or three best gourmet kosher restaurants in Israel. It's calm and intimately designed, seating only around 50 people, and has an informed staff and an exquisite menu that's also prepared with an eye toward the healthy (lower-calorie menus are marked on the menu). Each dish is presented as a work of art. First courses are extremely interesting; look for seared red tuna covered with crunchy spices, celery soufflé with ragout mushrooms, or tarte tatin of tomato confit served with thyme and shallots. Main courses of fish, risotto, or pasta are heavenly, served with beautifully prepared accompaniments. The desserts are luxurious treats to be consumed leisurely, or you can have an array of Valrhona chocolates! Tip: A 10% discount coupon is available for Lawrence at www.eluna.com, a website that offers discounts on kosher dining in Israel. Smoking and cellphones are blessedly banned from this wonderful gourmet enclave.
