Home to some 1,700 animals from 220 different species in natural habitat exhibits, the El Paso Zoo is one of the state's best. The focus is on American, Asian and African wildlife, with a monkey island, reptile house, Asian Grasslands exhibit, and Americas Aviary. Among the crowd favorites are sun bears, giraffes, tigers, and Asian elephants. There is also a restaurant, a gift shop, and a replica of a "Paraje," the 16th-century equivalent of a rest stop on the Camino Real. Allow at least 1 hour.
