Estero Beach Resort

About 10km (6 1/4 miles) south of downtown Ensenada, this sprawling complex of rooms, cottages, and mobile-home hookups has been popular with families and active vacationers since the 1950s. The bay and protected lagoon at the edge of the lushly planted property are perfect for swimming and launching sailboards; there's also a large swimming pool with a swim-up bar, tennis, horseback riding, volleyball, and Ping-Pong and billiards tables. The guest rooms are a little worn, but no one expects fancy here. The beachfront restaurant serves a casual mix of seasonal cuisine including seafood, sushi, Mexican fare, hamburgers, fried chicken, omelets, and even a special kids' menu. Some suites and 5 of the 15 cottages have kitchenettes, and some can easily accommodate a whole family.
