Océan Vagabond

This is a great place for a late breakfast or long lunch, and is the only beachfront establishment directly on the sand. The blue-and-white "beach shack" has recently relocated about 200m (655 ft.) farther south, and offers fantastic uninterrupted views (give or take a camel or two) of Les Iles Purpuraires from lots of low-level tables, lounges, and deck chairs, shaded by woven-grass umbrellas. Funky Latino and world music plays in the background, as diners choose from the varied menu or simply relax with a beer or juice. There's a good selection of breakfasts, homemade cakes, and tarts, as well as fresh juices and ice creams. Most main dishes are light meals, including some great salads -- try Le Chèvre with goat cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and dried fruit -- along with baguettes, panini, hamburgers, pizza, and grilled chicken and fries. There's also a menu du jour that is usually a tagine, couscous, or pasta dish. In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere here, the young waitstaff is easygoing -- if at times a bit too casual -- and friendly.
