Frommer's Review
This recently renovated 1930s dar offers a variety of good-value rooms in a homely environment, where guests are handed a key to the front door and management is discreet and unobtrusive. Located in a small alcove just a short walk from the Bab Marrakech medina entrance, guests step through a low, heavy door into a tranquil ground-floor courtyard, where the four original columns are accompanied by a gurgling fountain. The rooms -- located on the three upper floors off verandahs of blue railings and accessed by a steep, narrow staircase -- are all individually furnished with cotton and wool bed linens; carpets; and curtains in colors of ocean blue, deep burgundy, and gold. Some rooms offer a private balcony, others a fireplace or small lounge; there are both split-level and single-floor configurations that can accommodate up to five people. Most have tadelakt-rendered bathrooms with welcoming exterior windows. Breakfast can be taken privately in the courtyard or on the communal rooftop terrace with great beach and medina views. Guests are welcome to venture out to the Quartier des Dunes to use the pool at sister property Riad Zahra (below).
