Frommer's Review
This chic hotel, opened in 2006 by French couple Sebastien and Marie Deflandre and managed by daughter Juliette, is only 1 block from the beach and a short walk from Essaouira's medina. The multilevel white building features plenty of natural sandstone and dark wood throughout, with wavelike curves and Islamic arches. The spacious rooms are all individually furnished, with themes such as India, Bali, Borneo, Berber, Samurai, and Masai giving some indication of each room's style. Families are accommodated with interconnecting rooms. Rooms have either a medina or sea view; however, those with a medina view are very close to the street and tend to be noisy, so I recommend those with a sea view, which also look out over the pleasant back yard with its grassed lawn and heated pool. A health center on the far side of the garden offers a hammam and beauty and massage treatments. The hotel's ground floor centers around a large salon with fireplace, leather lounges, and plenty of oversize floor cushions, and the hotel bar and restaurant serves a delicious buffet breakfast daily. The restaurant also offers a dinner menu of mainly French and Asian cuisine, though meals inconveniently must be ordered in the morning.
