ShoppingIf you're after leather cowboy boots, you need to stop by Estelí. All around avenues 1a N.O. and Avenida Central you'll find stores selling quality leather goods in the form of belts, hats, saddles, and of course footwear for the discerning vaquero. Most shops will carefully measure your feet and rustle up a custom-made pair of boots in less than a week, for around C1,140 ($60/£30). Artesanía La Esquina, 1 block north of the cathedral (tel. 505/713-2229), and Artesanía Nicaraguense, 1 block south of the cathedral (tel. 505/713-4456), have a good selection of local soapstone pieces and Ducualí pottery as well as general Nicaraguan handicrafts. Guitarras y Requintas el Arte, beside INISER (tel. 505/713-7555), sells beautifully crafted guitars and mandolins.
