Keresztény Múzeum (Christian Museum)

This museum, in the neoclassical former primate's palace, houses Hungary's largest collection of religious art and the largest collection of medieval art outside the National Gallery in Budapest. The Lord's Coffin of Garamszentbenedek is probably the museum's most famous piece; the ornately carved, gilded coffin on wheels was originally used in Easter celebrations.

To get to the museum, leave the basilica by the museum downward path and follow it to the right. You will come to a souvenir shop. Turn right on that street, Mindszenty József u. When you get to the next church, the museum is beyond it to the right. Don't be fooled by the other building under renovation.
