Frommer's Review
Wandering through downtown Exeter, you almost can't help but notice this regal, Federal-style house looming over the bandstand. Hosting guests since 1992, the inn is handsomely decorated with a supple Victorian richness. Rooms are furnished with mostly antiques and a few reproductions; some rooms have propane fireplaces, and a few now also sport Jacuzzi tubs in the bathrooms. A first-floor suite is styled with deep maroons and forest greens, and furnished with leather wingback chairs; on the third floor are the two best rooms, Sommerset Cottage and Lakeheath, showing off the home's original, ruggedly hand-hewn oak beams (the home was built in 1809) and containing extra touches such as a wet bar, wrought-iron beds, handmade quilting, and the like. While the downtown location is extremely handy, it can also be a bit noisy when trucks downshift on the hill next to the bandstand. The brick fireplaces in several rooms are original and extremely cozy.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
