Hotel Menzeh Fes Review

Often beset by tour groups, this large, aging hotel still exudes more character than its modern, bland competitors, helped along by a fantastic view -- best taken from the rooftop bar -- across the Sebou Valley to the Fes medina. An enormous, grand reception area greets guests who can then travel up to their room in a glass-side elevator that takes advantage of the view. A range of traditionally decorated rooms are available; the standard double is very spacious with a king-size bed, two-seater lounge, and large, modern bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Some suites come with a private terrace and separate lounge area, or with a small Jacuzzi and bigger bathroom. Request a top-floor room with a medina view -- not all rooms face the medina, and of those that do, the view from the lower floors is partially obscured by a McDonald's. The main restaurant is a beautifully grand structure with four massive columns holding up an intricately painted ceiling and chandelier. This is the sister hotel to Hotel Menzeh Zalagh, located 1 block away with similar rooms and a pool open to guests from both hotels.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; rooftop bar

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
