If it's a beach you're looking for, take the ferry to Pointe du Bout. The island's only golf course is in Les Trois-Ilets.

Hiking -- Inexpensive guided hikes are offered by the Parc Naturel Régional de la Martinique, 9 bd. Général de Gaulle at Fort-de-France (tel. 596/73-19-30). This organization also gives out maps of recommended hikes within Martinique, and offers advice about routings and access to departure points for walks and hill treks.
