Sherman Street National Historic District

The Fort Morgan Museum publishes a walking-tour brochure both for Sherman Street and for the 9-block downtown district, the latter noting 44 buildings that made up the early town. These are available at the chamber of commerce and the museum. Four Victorian mansions in the Sherman Street District are of special interest. Located around the intersection of Sherman Street and East Platte Avenue, they include the Warner House, an 1886 Queen Anne home; the Curry House, an 1898 Queen Anne with decorative spindle work porches, a barn, a carriage house, and a water tower; the Graham House, a 1914 American foursquare home; and the Bloedorn House, a 1926 brick Georgian revival-style building. Each is associated with a prominent city pioneer. They are private homes, not open to the public, but it's worth the walk to see the architecture from the sidewalk.
