Frommer's Review
Frankfurt hotels don't get much better than this. Only the Steigenberger Hotel Frankfurter Hof knocks it from the top-ranking hotel in the city. A private and traditional place with an elegant atmosphere, this boxy, nine-story hotel has luxe style and amenities all the way. The hotel is located opposite the trade-fair building. The relatively modest postwar exterior doesn't prepare you for the spacious and glamorous interior. Many of the bedrooms are furnished with antiques. The bathrooms are equipped with tub/shower combos and thoughtful little extras such as perfumed soap and luxurious bathrobes. In the older building in front, accommodations are traditionally furnished with chandeliers strung from high ceilings, antique furnishings, and 19th-century lithographs. Rooms here are not quite as elegant as those at the Frankfurter Hof and Meridien. But in the newer wing, Nordflugel, the bedrooms outrank even the stiffest Frankfurt competitors. The hotel staff follows the old European custom of having guests leave their shoes outside the bedroom door at night, to be returned shined the next morning. All windows are soundproof; all rooms have fitness equipment (steppers and weights).
