Alte Oper

Frommer's Staff

Although not a stage for opera per se, the old opera house is still the pride of Frankfurt. Reopened in 1981 after wartime destruction, the current hall recalls the original, which was opened in 1880 under Kaiser Wilhelm I and hailed as one of the most beautiful theaters in Europe. Today the Alte Oper is the site of frequent symphonic and choral concerts, and worth the ticket price.
