Hirsch in German means stag, and the hotel's trademark sets the theme for its very Bavarian, almost folkloric, decor. Even if you're not staying here, you can visit for a meal, experiencing an authentic regional cuisine either in its Bierstube section or else in its more formal dining room. The menu is seasonally adjusted, with game specialties dominating in the autumn, including wild duck with blue cabbage and dumplings. Fresh trout comes from local rivers, and fish soup is often featured, as are a number of chicken and beef dishes. Desserts and breads are luscious.
The hotel also rents comfortably appointed and traditionally furnished bedrooms -- ask for the King Maximilian Room or the King Ludwig Room. Doubles rent from 96€ to 147€, with themed suites going for 138€ to 180€. Free Wi-Fi is included.
