Housed in the building astride the Pont de la Machine (Machine Bridge), which once contained the machines that pumped water to the city's many fountains, Au Phil du Temps forms part of the Cité du Temps complex, a combination of art/event space, trendy restaurant, and lounge-bar, and, on the top floor, a Swatch museum. Enjoy an aperitif or after-dinner digestif in the sleek black-and-red bar that overlooks the river, and a meal in the striking black-and-white restaurant with its vibrant mosaic splashes of color. The artful presentation and bold flavors of the dishes are cleverly balanced by the light-infused, predominantly monochrome décor of the eating space. Seasonal menus are created by local Michelin chef Philippe Chevrier (of Domaine du Châteauvieux fame), and accompanied by a wide choice of local Genevese wines and beers. Our favourite dishes include chicken liver pâté with brioche toast and quince compote, frogs' legs sautéed in garlic butter with potato mousseline, guinea fowl supreme with mushrooms and cider sauce, lobster with ginger and Thai spices, and a rum-soaked retro-classic rum baba to follow—high-class, bistro-inspired cuisine at its absolute best!
