Frommer's Review
Even if you feel you've outgrown hostelling, the quality of the accommodations and the pleasant surroundings here may convince you to take another stab at the experience. This one is fairly new and attractive, and affords some marvelous views over the city from its hillside perch about a kilometer (2/3 mile) from the terminal of the Righi funicular (which you can take downtown to the tiny piazza of Largo Zecca, the place to which you take the funicular, every 15-20 min. 6:40am-midnight.) Families make out especially well here, in rooms with private bathrooms; other guests sleep four to eight in a room. There's a large terrace, a bar, a cheap cafeteria, a TV room, and a laundromat. Plus, though the hostel is in a safe area well above the hustle and bustle of the city, it's only about 20 minutes to Stazione Brignole on the no. 40 bus, which makes the run about every 10 minutes. (From Stazione Principe, take bus no. 35 to Via Napoli, where you can transfer to bus no. 40.)

Restaurant; bar; game room; laundry service
