In George Town, shopping is a very casual event, especially at the Exuma Straw Market, open Monday to Saturday 7am to 5pm. Here in the shade of a large Indian fig tree, local Bahamian women spend their day making straw baskets, colorful handbags, dolls, and other keepsakes.
